Valenzuela reports first COVID-19 case
Valenzuela City reported its first case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as it braces for possible rise in the number of infections.
Valenzuela City officials said a 34-year-old female got infected by the deadly virus and is now under strict home quarantine.
“The patient has no travel history but has exposure to someone who traveled to Malaysia,” they said.
Valenzuela City has already prepared its unused drug rehabilitation and treatment facility and city astrodome to serve as centralized isolation centers.
It has also set-up modular tents and military cot beds.
Local government units in Metro Manila have heightened its precautionary measures against the virus, which already infected more than 200 and killed 17 in the country, with most of the cases reported in Metro Manila.
About 25 percent of the cases are in Quezon City, the largest in 17 cities and town in terms of land area.

She has also ordered an extreme enhanced community quarantine on three gated subdivisions because each has three cases of coronavirus, classifying them as hot zones locking down several households.
President Rodrigo Duterte has responded to the pandemic by placing the entire mainland of Luzon under enhanced community quarantine, restricting movement of the public and suspending mass transportation to contain the pandemic.
