The Valenzuela City government started the distribution of P2,000 cash incentives to the top five elementary, junior and senior high school graduates in public schools in the city, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.

First to receive the cash incentives were the top five Grade 6, Grade 10 (moving-up), and Grade 12 students of Isla Elementary School, Apolonio Casimiro Faustino Elementary School, Tagalag Elementary School, and Maysan Elementary School who attended their graduation rites on Monday.

The local government said the awardees were also given medals.

Under City Ordinance No. 1020 Series of 2022, which was approved by the city council and enacted on June 24, the top students of each public school for school year 2021-2022 will be given cash incentives from the local government to recognize their academic achievements.

The distribution of the cash rewards will only be until July 2, 2022, the city government said.
