120 Valenzuela students participate in physical classes
A total of 120 students from Bignay Elementary School and Tagalag Elementary School in Valenzuela City participated in the pilot run of limited face-to-face classes which started on Feb. 9, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.
Dr. Meliton Zurbano, Department of Education-Valenzuela (DepEd-Valenzuela) School Division superintendent, said both schools were attended by 60 students each — 12 from Kindergarten, and 16 each for Grades 1, 2 and 3.
The current schedule of the classes will be every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., and will cover critical topics for subjects like Math, Science and English which cannot be taught online.
Minimum health and safety protocols are also being observed.
Zurbano said the two schools were among those approved by the DepEd in Metro Manila to conduct the pilot run.
He added that the students who attended were also those who joined the face-to-face classes last December 2021 which was halted due to the placement of Metro Manila under COVID-19 Alert level 3 quarantine status.
Zurbano said that they are discussing the reopening of four more schools to expand the limited face-to-face classes based on the feedback and learning from the pilot run.
