Valenzuela opens 2 ‘Botika ng Bayan’
Valenzuela City has opened two stores of “Botika ng Bayan” (BNB) to provide free medicines to city residents.
The Valenzuela local government said the BnBs will be of great help to members of marginalized communities in Valenzuela who cannot afford to buy medicines.
Essential medicines such as antibiotics, topical ointments, anti-thrombotic, anti-inflammatory, vitamins, and antacids, among others, will be available at the BnBs.
Residents who wish to avail themselves of free medicines need only to bring their prescriptions when they go to the BnB near them.
The BnB at Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital-Out-Patient Department will serve residents of District 1 while those who live in District 2 will be handled by the BnB beside the Sanitation Office of the Valenzuela City Hall compound.
Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian, along with other local government officials and DOH officials, led the launch of the drug stores on November 15.
Gatchalian announced that he is planning to establish more BnBs in the city, particularly at Barangay Gen. T. de Leon, Marulas, Ugong, and Punturin.
Currently, there are only 60 BnBs in the country, including those in Valenzuela City.
The Botika ng Bayan launching was one of the activities lined up for the celebration of Valenzuela City’s 396th founding anniversary.
