Gatchalian proclaimed mayor of Valenzuela
Rex Gatchalian has been proclaimed as the mayor of Valenzuela by the city board of canvassers.
Garnering at least 249,508 votes, or 96.69 percent of voters in the city who turned out to cast their ballots, Gatchalian is set to serve his third term as Valenzuela mayor.
Gatchalian’s opponents, Bienvenido Español and Antonio Go, received 2,288 votes and 6,239 votes, respectively.
Gatchalian said he was overwhelmed with the number of votes he had received.
“It’s overwhelming. What I can only do to pay them back is to make their every vote count and to assure that all promises are fulfilled and all initiatives are launched,” he said.
Gatchalian said his victory was the victory of all Valenzuelanos.
He vowed to continue his projects in education by focusing on improving its curriculum and building more public libraries.
Gatchalian also assured that he would continue his public health services by building more hospitals, as well as to make more green spaces and safer environments in the city.
