Persons with disability (PWDs) from various barangays of District 2 in Taguig City gathered at the Lakeshore Hall for the Disability Awareness and Sensitivity Workshop and to celebrate their birthdays.

As a caring community, Taguig continues to push for programs for PWDs in the city including the following:

PWDs are provided priority lanes in all of the city’s offices and services.

They are also granted scholarship under the Priority Courses and Skills Training of the city’s Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-Need scholarship program.

The city hired deaf encoders for the Taguig City Integrated Survey System (TCISS).

A training on sign language is conducted for city employees.

The city improved the SPED Center (Sentro Kalinga) which is recognized by the Department of Education and has now additional manpower including occupational and physical therapists.

Under Ordinance No. 29, Series of 2017, all registered PWDs in the city of Taguig now receive P1,000 as birthday cash gift.

The city government of Taguig is also building the Disability Resource and Development Center -- a 5-storey building located on Ipil-ipil Street, Purok 7, Barangay North Signal-- which will provide different services for PWDs in Taguig including livelihood trainings, transition programs, tutorial services, and even a showroom that will showcase handicraft products made by Taguigeño PWDs.
