Taguig releases P1 million to each barangay
Taguig City released P1 million to each barangay to assist in their respective COVID-19 response efforts, Mayor Lino Cayetano said in a report by GMA News.
"Taguig City has released a total of P1 million per barangay, to all barangays in the city of Taguig. The second tranche, which is P500,000, is released this week," Cayetano said at the sidelines of the inauguration of the COVID-19 mega-complex facility.
"'Yung P1 million per barangay na 'yun, can be used by the barangays for COVID-related projects," he added.
Cayetano further said that Taguig City remains to be the area in Metro Manila with the lowest case fatality rate. He attributed this to the efforts of the medical frontliners as well as the cooperation between the national and local government.
"Taguig remains the lowest active case here in NCR. Nanatili na isa sa pinakamababang case fatality rate, hindi lamang ho sa Pilipinas, sa buong mundo, 'yung napakababang case fatality rate natin. Only 56 deaths in 6,000 infections," Cayetano said.
"Tayo rin ho ang isa sa mababang attack rate at lahat ho 'yan ang binibigyan nating puri ay ang masisipag at magagaling na medical health workers, mga government and private frontliners, at matibay ho na pakikipagugnayan ng national and local government," he added.
So far, the city has recorded 6,988 COVID-19 cases, of which 389 are still active and 6,544 have recovered, the local government noted.
