The San Juan Knights denied the Manila Stars entry to the national championship round in their north division finals match in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup on Saturday.
The Knights’ win over the Stars, 92-90, has forced a rubber match, which will be held on Monday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
San Juan’s John Wilson was a steady presence in the game, finishing with 18 points, while teammate Jhonard Clarito played his best game yet with 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Knights won the game despite shooting only 39 percent of field goals, 28 of 71. They also missed 22 free throws, but got 23 second chance points.
