San Juan ready to address more workers

San Juan City is ready for the entry of more workers in the city under the general community quarantine (GCQ).

This was according to Mayor Francis Zamora, who inspected police checkpoints, public transport terminals, and commercial areas in the city on Monday, the first day of implementing less stringent quarantine measures in the metropolis.

“We expect that in the days to come, mas dadami pa ang mga tao na papasok ng San Juan (more and more people will enter San Juan) from other cities so we just have to be ready for the influx of people,” Zamora told the Manila Bulletin.

Aside from the city’s police force, Zamora said he had instructed personnel of the City Public Order and Security Office, Traffic Task Force, and the city’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to augment their manpower tasked to impose the quarantine protocols.

“Our City Health Office personnel will also be monitoring,” the mayor added.

As of June 1, Zamora said San Juan City has 321 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with 43 deaths and 193 recoveries.

“Now that we are under GCQ, that doesn’t mean we’re back to our old habits,” Zamora said.

“Community quarantine is still being implemented because COVID-19 cases continue to rise throughout the country. So let’s just continue our steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in San Juan City,” he added.
