San Juan continues distribution of food packs
San Juan City celebrated the 13th anniversary of its cityhood on June 17, and as part of their week-long celebration activity, Mayor Francis Zamora ordered the distribution of the 11th tranche of family food packs to about 45,000 city residents.
“I understand that a lot of families are still having a hard time even if we are now under general community quarantine due to high unemployment, limited livelihood opportunities, and drained resources. I am hoping that these food packs will be able to help them out during these difficult times,” Zamora said.
He personally handed out family food packs in Barangays Corazon de Jesus, Pasadena, St. Joseph, and Isabelita.
According to Public Information chief Brian Geli, Zamora ordered that the distribution of family food packs to city residents be completed within a week.
Geli said the city government has been distributing family food packs weekly since President Duterte placed Metro Manila under enhanced community quarantine starting March 16.
The mayor will visit the city’s 21 barangays to help distribute food packs over the next seven days, ending on the town’s fiesta day, June 24.
Zamora said that “a lot of big changes” happened to San Juan, taking it “from a simple municipality to a booming city,” and thanked “the father of San Juan’s cityhood, Congressman Ronnie Zamora”, who is his father.
“As we approach our fiesta, we would like to impart to our dear constituents that the pandemic will not stop us from delivering much needed help and in celebrating these important events, although on a much simpler scale,” Zamora added.
