QC vaccinates 55,000 pets vs rabies
The Quezon City Veterinary Department has administered free vaccination against rabies to 55,128 household pets from January to June this year.
The campaign is the city’s contribution to the control and eradication of rabies in the Philippines.
Section 7 of Republic Act no. 9482, also known as the Anti-rabies Act of 2007, states the responsibilities of the local government units in the implementation of the National Rabies Prevention and Control Program.
The QC Veterinary Department also spayed and neutered 231 pets, and gave the pets microchips containing their owners’ address, vaccination records, and other relevant information.
“We are asking all pet owners to be responsible. Let’s take care of our pets by providing them with good food, good accommodation, healthcare, and protection,” said City Veterinarian Dr. Ana Maria Cabel.
