Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte tapped Fe del Mundo Medical Center to accept coronavirus disease2-10 patients starting April 6.

The hospital management is also looking at the possibility of increasing in the future its bed capacity, which is now at 30 beds.

Quezon City barangay officials were elated by the opening of the hospital for COVID-19 as the other government-run and private medical centers in the city are fully occupied.

The increasing number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city has alarmed not only the mayor but also the public, as those tested positive for the virus are being placed on home quarantine instead of being admitted into hospitals due to the lack of facilities.
