Quezon City signs agreement with DA

Bilang patuloy na pag-engganyo ng Lungsod Quezon sa mga residente nito sa larangan ng agrikultura, nilagdaan ni Mayor Joy Belmonte at Department of Agriculture Secretary William Dar ang isang Memorandum of Agreement na magsusulong ng Aquaponic Technology. Layunin nito mabigyang kakayahan ang ating mga residente na magpalaki ng isda tulad ng tilapia at hito sa abot-kayang paraan. 

Ang Aquaponic Technology ay maaring magsilbing alternative food production kung saan makapaghahatid ito ng masustansiyang isda at gulay sa mga pamilya. Gumagamit ng "nutrient-rich" na tubig ito mula sa "fish unit" at pagkatapos ay maaaring gamitin bilang fertilizer sa mga pananim, kung kaya'y matipid at environmentally-friendly ang prosesong ito.

Kasama rin sa MOA signing si Mr. Emmanuel Hugh Velasco, co-chairperson ng QC Food Security Task Force at mga kinatawan ng DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-NCR, kung saan ginawaran din ang iilang benepisyaryo ng programa mula sa Brgy. Bagong Silangan.
