The Quezon City Council acknowledges the important role that teachers play in molding the next generation by passing a resolution supporting House Bill 7211 which increases the minimum salary of teachers, as well as government employees.
City Resolution 7643-2018, introduced by Councilor Julienne Alyson Rae V. Medalla, states that the proposed bill will raise the minimum salary of public school teachers and teaching personnel in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).
“This resolution supports House Bill No. 7211 in order to assist our public school teachers and recognize their immense contribution to society as they nurture the future leaders of our country,” the resolution reads.
Entry-level teachers will have a minimum salary of P16,000; while from P30,000 to P31,000 for SUC teaching personnel.
Further, through HB 7211, government employees’ Personnel Economic Relief Allowance (PERA) will also be increased to P5,000.00 per month.
