Quezon City Food Security Task Force Chairperson Mayor Joy Belmonte spent Saturday visiting several community urban farms in Payatas. The AMLAC Ladies and Tau Gamma fraternity from the AMLAC Village, and the "Samahan ng Magkakapitbahay" from Hilltop Empire -- all shared their challenges and triumphs in establishing and growing their community farms.

Their hard work and sacrifice have paid off as they are now growing organic, fresh, healthy vegetables for their families. They also currently have excess produce to sell in their neighborhood or donate to the less fortunate.

Community farming is one of the seven action plans of the “#GrowQC: Kasama Ka sa Pag- unlad sa Pagkain, Kabuhayan, at Kalusugan” initiative of the QC Task Force Food Security which other communities should copy.

#GrowQC is part of the city’s COVID19 response to fight hunger. It encourages communities to come together and utilize idle lands and use them for food production and urban agriculture.
