A week after securing the opening of public schools, National Capital Region Police Office personnel have been ordered to remain at their posts as classes in private schools begin this week.

“This actually means additional areas of operations for our personnel, but there is no problem with that,” said NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar. “We have been doing this every year and we are banking on the lessons learned and experiences of our commanders and personnel on the ground.”

Eleazar ordered the five police districts in Metro Manila to boost security measures to include private schools.

“Our focus will be on the conduct of beat patrols to protect students from out-of-school youth bullies and criminal elements that include drug traffickers,” he said.

Apart from regular patrols, Eleazar said the NCRPO would maintain police assistance desks at schools and other public areas.

Last week, a total 7,153 policemen were deployed to various schools in Metro Manila, resulting in a peaceful opening of classes in public schools.
