National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said a total of 50 barangays were scheduled to be declared as ‘drug-cleared’ by the end of June by the Technical Working Group Committee spearheaded by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Eleazar said the five police districts under the NCRPO – the Quezon City Police District, Southern Police District, Northern Police District, Eastern Police District, and Manila Police District – would continue to intensify the crackdown against drug personalities in compliance with the rule of law and the protection of human rights.

He urged the public to help and work hand-in-hand with the police, barangay leaders, local government units, and other officials, and the community in eradicating the scourge of illegal drugs.

“We are already improved and have significantly reduced, if not totally eliminated, illegal drugs during intensified police operations. But more work needs to be done and we need the whole nation to work together and fight this menace,” Eleazar said.
