Cops ready to secure Independence Day rites

The Philippine National Police on Tuesday said all security measures were in place for the Philippines’ 121st Independence Day celebration on June 12.

PNP spokesperson Col. Bernard Banac said PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde instructed all police personnel to implement security measures to ensure the peaceful conduct of Independence Day rites.

“We urge everyone to participate in the celebration of Independence Day. The PNP is ready to secure all activities in line with the occasion. We have not so far received any security threat,” Banac said.

He said the PNP would deploy the maximum number of police and civil disturbance management personnel for mass protests in all places of engagement to ensure peace and order during the occasion.

Activities for the celebration of Independence Day include simultaneous flag-raising ceremonies in various parts of the country, job fairs, and a concert in Manila.
