New Pasig police chief vows to combat illegal drugs
The newly installed Pasig City police chief vowed to focus its police operations on crimes against property, riding-in-tandem, and illegal drugs.
Police Col. Moises Villaceran will replace Police Col. Rizalito Gapas as acting chief of Pasig City police.
Police Col. Remigio Sedanto will assume the position of Villaceran, who previously served as chief of Mandaluyong City Police for a year and 10 months.
Gapas, on the other hand, assumed the position Chief of Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office on Wednesday.
“The problems in Pasig are primarily crimes against property, akyat bahay, robbery hold-up, riding in tandem and motorcycle napping. We will focus on that,” Villaceran told reporters on the sidelines of the 45th Founding Anniversary of Eastern Police District on Thursday.
“Second is the illegal drugs campaign of the national government,” he added.
The new chief of police said his transfer was a “career move”.
“It’s a challenge to you to prove your worth and it’s an honor to be given a big area of responsibility,” he added.
Pasig City has a land area of 4,846 hectares. This is five times bigger than the 929-hectare land area of Mandaluyong City.
Villaceran is set to make his courtesy call to Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto this week.
