Sotto fires 'abusive' Pasig city hall official
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said he has fired a city official due to “questionable practices and abusive behavior.”
Sotto shared on his Facebook page photos of the blue-painted office of the “office head” whom he did not identify.
“This is the room of one office head after I fired him. He was removed because of some questionable practices and abusive behavior,” Sotto said in a post.
“The pictures show how some people treat the government like (it is) their private property,” he added.
Sotto, who use social media to air his sentiments, said the city government will deal with city officials who abuse their authority “with the full force of the law.”
“We are giving everyone a chance. Some of the most successful transitions in LGUs (local government units) have come with minimal changes in personnel,” Sotto said, “but we will deal with the abusive as they deserve, and with the full force of the law.”
Sotto called on the public to report erring city personnel.
According to the city mayor, one of the problems his team faced during the transition was the poor inventory of supplies.
“Isa sa mga naging problema natin sa transition na ito ay hindi maayos ang imbentaryo ng gamit (One of our problems during the transition was the disorganized inventory of supplies),” Sotto said.
“Di malinaw saan dinala ang milyon-milyong (o bilyong) kagamitan [It was not clear where millions, or billion, of materials were distributed],” he said.
“Ni walang sticker at number karamihan ng mga kagamitan sa mga opisina kaya ang hirap i-trace pag nawala,” he revealed.
Sotto ordered last month the physical count of the city government’s supplies and materials following the report of the Commission on Audit (COA) that it could not account for over P1.4 billion of the city’s inventory.
