The Pasig City government has teamed up with Rizal Medical Center (RMC) to train the city's medical officerrs and ensure the effective delivery of health services to the community.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto signed a memorandum of agreement with officers of RMC. The agreement is good for five years.

“This is very important, especially now that we are heading towards universal health care. It is imperative that we should have strong frontliners,” Sotto said in a Facebook post.

Under the agreement, RMC will formulate and implement a training curriculum in accordance with the minimum requirements imposed by Philippine Academy of Family Physicians, as well as to ensure the training schedule will not burden the trainees and will not compromise their current work in their areas of responsibilities.

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto and officers of Rizal Medical Center sign an agreement for the training of the city’s medical workers.

The city government, on the other hand, will allow medical officers to attend training, lectures and seminars in rotation at different departments at RMC. It allows RMC consultants to regularly visit health centers and barangay health stations as venues for lectures and other related learning activities.

Sotto said he would allocate more funding for medical assistance to cover more indigent patients who seek medical attention.

“We will make sure that there are medicines in all health centers and hospitals. There is an upcoming delivery (of medicines). We are also studying other systems in place to fast-track their delivery,” he added.

The mayor said he would also establish a much stronger service delivery network of all health centers and hospitals, as he rationalizes health care workers.

“We will hire qualified persons for every position. There will be no professional that is still without a job order,” he said.
