Pasig mayor eyes 3-fold hike in medicine budget
Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto proposed a three-fold increase in the city’s budget for medicines for 2020 to ensure wider access for patients.
In a Facebook post, Sotto shared that he wants the budget for medicine to be raised to P253.5 million from the current P89.7 million.
The amount, however, has to be approved by the city council during deliberations of Pasig’s proposed budget.
Improving access to healthcare was one of Sotto’s campaign promises.
Sotto said he will focus on rationalizing healthcare workers and improving the public health system in the coming weeks.
