Pasig, Marikina joins #MMShakeDrill2019
Pasig and Marikina's city authorities held an emergency rescue exercise early Saturday morning to mark the Fifth Metro Manila Shake Drill.
Some of the situations staged in Barangay Santolan, Pasig City were injured victims on roads, blaring fire trucks and ambulances, and an audacious rescue of citizens trapped in a fire that engulfed a high-rise residential building.
Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office acting chief Bryant Wong said about 1300 emergency staff were deployed to help the earthquake's alleged victims.
Meanwhile, Dave David, chief of the Marikina City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said there was also an emergency situation at SM Marikina where "victims" were pinned down by dropped debris.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Danny Lim said that despite the willingness and outstanding performance of emergency staff, there will always be space for improvement.
Lim said it was discovered that communication in four quadrants of Metro Manila had to be enhanced between the MMDA and local government units. The eastern quadrant is formed by the cities of Pasig and Marikina.
