Parañaque officials donate April salary to poor residents
Parañaque City officials donated their April salaries as additional funding to help poor residents while Luzon remains under enhanced community quarantine until April 30.
City Treasurer Anthony Pulmano took the initiative for the “bayanihan” among the city department heads that earned the support of Mayor Edwin Olivarez.
Pulmano said Vice-Mayor Rico Golez and City Administrator Atty. Fernando Soriano also donated their one-month salary.
He said the the other department heads who already donated their April salary were Business Permit and Licensing Office chief Atty. Melanie Malaya, City Accountant Malou Tanael, City Health Office chief Dr. Olga Virtucio, City Budget Office head Ronnie Depano, City General Services Office (GSO) chief Lisa Pojanes, City Engineer Aser Mallari, City Assessor Joey del Rosario, City Building Official head Engr. Jamela, City Legal Officer Rommel Frias, and ABC President Kap. Cris Aguilar.
The City treasurer said Mayor Olivarez also heeded the call of President Rodrigo Duterte on the Bayanihan ‘To Heal As One’ act in donating his salary in fighting the spread of the corona virus in the country.
Pulmano said the amount they will generate from the salary of the city government department heads will be used for additional family relief packages or other form of aid to the needy.
“So far, we are just starting with the collection and there will be a discussion as to where we are going to place the donation from our department heads,” Pulmano said.
He added that they decided to launch the “bayanihan” to be able to help city residents who are suffering.
