Navotas welcomes 28 new scholars
The city government of Navotas welcomed 28 new beneficiaries of the NavotaAs Academic Scholarship for school year 2021-2022.
Of the 28, 15 are incoming high school freshmen, 11 are incoming college freshmen, and two are teachers seeking higher education.
"We wish to congratulate our new academic scholars as well as their parents. While the pandemic has brought about overwhelming challenges to our school sector, our scholars persevered and strived to excel in their studies. They truly deserve the educational aid they will be getting from our city government," Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
Scholars underwent a qualifying exam in July and an interview in August.
High school scholars will receive P18,000 per academic year for book, transportation, and food allowance.
Scholars of the Navotas Polytechnic College will get P22,000 per academic year for tuition, book, transportation, and food allowance. Scholars of other colleges or universities will receive P262,000 for the same.
Meanwhile, teacher-scholars will get P75,000 every academic year for their tuition; book, transportation, and food allowance; and research grant.
Since it was launched in 2011, the NavotaAs Academic Scholarship has been able to support the education of 999 scholars.
