Navotas posts highest single-day increase in virus cases
Navotas City reported the biggest single day increase in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on July 31.
Mayor Tobias “Toby” Tiangco said Navotas recorded an additional 246 cases on 31 July, raising the total to 2,144.
The mayor said the results came from those tested from 23 to 24 July through the city’s intensified swab testing effort.
“This means most of the number were results of the 1,000 daily swab tests conducted at the Palacio de Maynila,” Tiangco said.
“It is possible that the number will increase in the next few days, as the latest number does not yet include those tested during the lockdown in the city,” Tiangco added.
As of 31 July, the country’s fishing capital has already reported a total of 2,144 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 928 recoveries and 96 deaths.
