Navotas Fish Port Complex (NFPC), which supplies 70 percent of the fish requirements of Metro Manila, was closed on August 1 for disinfection.

The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority said the fish port would be temporarily shut down from 1 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sunday. Operations will resume on Sunday afternoon.

“The said activity is a necessary safety and preventive measure at [NFPC] to ensure a clean and safe [facility], to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 at the fish port and for the safety of those who work there,” the agency said. Navotas City, where the fish port is located, has recorded 1,898 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday.
