Navotas City restores truck ban

Navotas City restored its truck ban, which was temporarily lifted while Metro Manila was under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Ordinance No. 2015-02 imposes a ban on eight-wheeler trucks in certain areas, which the city council sees necessary “to address traffic congestion to avoid greater effect on commerce and trade and public road access within the city.”

Re-implementation of the truck ban means that all trucks traveling along M. Naval St. from Agora to Cut-off channel and from C-4 Road to Tangos, Gov. Pascual St., C-4 Road, and H. Lopez Blvd. will not be allowed from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Aside from these, trucks are also not allowed along Lapu-lapu Ave. and San Rafael Village. Only those who operate businesses in the area are exempted.

Only the ban on trucks along C-3, R-10 and North Bay Boulevard remains lifted, the local government said.

Those who will violate the measure face confiscation of their driver’s license and a fine of P5,000, according to the ordinance.
