Navotas City organized free civil wedding for 36 couples on Feb. 14.

The Kasalang Bayan, done regularly on Valentine’s Day and on the cityhood anniversary of Navotas, aims to legalize marriage of couples who have been living together.

“Most of you have been together for more than five years now. Whatever is your secret to making your relationship last, keep it. Let this ceremony strengthen your union and make your marriage happier,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

Meanwhile, Cong. John Rey Tiangco assured the newly-weds that the city government has services and programs to help their family live a quality life.

“The family is the basic unit of society. Strong families make outstanding communities. This is why our government gives top priority to improving the plight of every Navoteño family,” he said.

Aside from the Kasalang Bayan, other activities were also held in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Among them were the distribution of cookies to city hall employees; serenade per office; speed dating and free dinner date for qualified participants; and Kalye Pag-ibig food bazaar.
