“We invite every Muntinlupeño to come visit the new exhibit and immerse in Southeast Asia’s rich heritage and culture as depicted in textiles of the region,” Fresnedi said. The local exec added that Museo ng Muntinlupa aims to bring history, culture, and the arts closer to the community.

Officials attending the ceremony were DFA Asec. Eduardo Meñez, Philippine Textile Council execs Louie Locsin (wife of DFA Sec. In Southeast Asia, traditional attire has played a significant societal role. Depicting tribal affiliation, social status, and religion, traditional attire not only serves as ornamentation but also embodies the development and heritage of a nation and transforms an individual person into a bearer of tradition.

The exhibit, serves as an introduction to the countries that belong to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. It showcases clothing traditions of each ASEAN country in hopes of highlighting not only the remarkable craftsmanship and unique identity of each culture, but to further demonstrate the underlying commonalities between them. The Museo ng Muntinlupa is a unique venue as it is proud to be the heritage center of Southern Metro Manila.

As the newest city museum in Metro Manila, Museo ng Muntinlupa brings history, culture, and the arts to Southern Metro Manila. A 3,000 square meter space, it is complete with interactive galleries; contemporary art space; a research center and meeting spaces; and a state-of-the-art 200-seater theater for performances and conferences.
