Number coding remains suspended

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the number coding scheme will remain suspended this week.

“There is still no coding. We decided to keep the number coding scheme lifted for the meantime due to the insufficient modes of transportation during the implementation of the community quarantine,” Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago, MMDA spokesperson said.

“This is also to help our commuters during these trying times. We took them into consideration,” Pialago added.

She reminded that motorists should only get out of their homes for essential tasks like work, and not for leisure.

“If you do not have anything important to do outside, stay at home and be with your family. The virus is still here. There is no cure yet for COVID-19,” she said.

“The government is doing everything to ensure your safety so please cooperate at all times.”

The Palace earlier said allowing all modes of transportation will defeat the purpose of the community quarantine.
