MRT-3 limits operations due to cut cable

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) temporarily suspended the number coding scheme for city buses on EDSA following the halt of MRT-3 operations on September 6.

Operations of MRT-3 were suspended at 6:40 a.m. due to a cable of the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) being cut at Guadalupe Station (NB), which caused insufficient power supply from Shaw Boulevard to Santolan.

MMDA dispatched “Libreng Sakay” vehicles to help stranded passengers of the MRT-3.

Affected commuters were seen clustered along EDSA waiting for an alternative mode of transportation which caused heavy traffic along the major thoroughfare.

Repair work to restore the full operation of the entire line is still ongoing. Train operations are expected to be restored at 5 p.m. on Friday.
