The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Wednesday announced the suspension of the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program, or the number coding scheme, for provincial buses on May 10 and May 14.

The MMDA said the move was aimed at easing travel for commuters going to the provinces to cast their votes in Monday’s midterm elections.

“The UVVRP suspension is to ensure that there will be enough public utility vehicles to ferry commuters who are going to vote in the provinces,” the MMDA said.

The number coding scheme for all public utility vehicles and private vehicles will be lifted on May 11, 12, and 13, Election Day.
