In anticipation of the influx of travelers for the Lenten break. the Department of Public Works and Highways will deploy its motorist assistance teams next week.
Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said the public assistance program, dubbed Lakbay Alalay, will be placed at strategic locations nationwide starting noon on Wednesday, April 17, until noon on April 22.
The teams will assist motorists who will be visiting churches, pilgrimages, and taking advantage of the long weekend to spend time with families and loved ones.
Villar said uniformed Motorist Assistance Teams with maintenance equipment on standby and navy blue-colored Lakbay Alalay tents will be deployed on a round-the-clock shift to provide emergency assistance and ensure major thoroughfares are well-maintained and free from obstructions and potholes.
Teams will also make sure that appropriate warning, directional and information signages are legible and visible, especially at critical sections of roads.
