Overtaken
‘am back soonest than expected.
As your dude around town, I committed to keep you abreast on the hot topics trending. But my last piece “While You’re Sleeping,” the title boomeranged as I was sound asleep when Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin issued a “note verbale” for the extension of Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA).
Clearly, I was overtaken by events. That was a quick turn around. Mianhae (that’s Korean for apologies)! I still cannot get enough of the Hyun Bin influence.
The suspension should have taken effect August 9. The “note verbale,” which extends the VFA for six months, was anchored on the “need” of the country to have close cooperation with all the global economies to address the Pandemic health problem.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, in an interview with Pinky Webb of CNN Philippines, admitted that the consideration of issuing a diplomatic note was briefly discussed with the President, Senator and former Special Assistance to the President Bong Go, among others “a month ago” in Malacanang.
Philippine Ambassador to the US Babe Romualdez said, in a separate interview with Pinky the suspension was “very much well received” in Washington D. C. “The alliance remains strong. It’s the best for the country.”
A further more, the Philippine diplomat the suspension will be a good opening for the country as a good number of US firms are looking at relocating their operations out of Mainland China. Ph will “once again” within their radar screen.
And those pictures I hankered about, the goodlooking members of the US military service, partners of the Department of Education’s partner in the Balik Eskwela Program such school cleaning, repainting and doing other manly-mundane stuff in local elementary schools will continue to make my day. It’s a breather, a respite from all those gloomy death toll, dreary positives infographic
There folks. That was quick and swift. See you around soon! For now, I leave you with this “sickening but well-meaning advise”: stay-home-stay-safe-stay-healthy.
