The Light Rail Transit Authority on Monday said only seven of its 10 trains were serving passengers on the LRT-2 after two of its trains collided on the tracks between Anonas and Cubao stations last Saturday.

Apart from the two decommissioned trains, one train was undergoing preventive maintenance, LRTA spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said.

Cabrera pointed out that passengers may have to wait longer than the usual three minutes to five minutes for the arrival of a train at each station.

“This may be stretched to three and a half-minute to six-minute intervals, depending on passenger volume and time of day,” he said.

A total of 30 passengers and four LRT-2 personnel were injured in the accident. Out of the five who remained hospitalized Sunday, one had already been discharged while another passenger was admitted to a hospital for traumatic anxiety.
