Carlos Chan named as Management Man of the Year

The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) named Ambassador Carlos Chan, chairman of Liwayway Group, the maker of famous snack product Oishi, as this year’s Management Man of the Year.

Chan, the brother of Ben Chan of Bench, was cited for his business acumen and management qualities in transforming a local cornstarch-repacking business into an international snack manufacturing company.

He was regarded by MAP for setting an example for Filipino managers through a track record of integrity, entrepreneurial excellence, managerial competence and professional leadership in his management career in both private and public sectors.

The MAP recognized the “exemplar of the Filipino entrepreneurial spirit” of Amb. Chan as well as “demonstrating patriotism and for helping enhance the country’s image by carrying the Philippine flag with pride in all his business operations abroad.”

With the limitless business foresight of the Ambassador, in close collaboration with his children Oishi has blossomed into a most sought after snack in the region.

Aside from the Philippines, Oishi has established manufacturing plants in several countries, including shanghai, China; Vietnam; Myanmar; Thailand; Indonesia;  India; Cambodia and South Africa.

The MAP Management Man of the Year award is conferred to individuals in business or government, whether an MAP member or not who have attained unquestioned distinction in the practive of management and has made valuable contributions to the progress of the country as well as reshaping national values.
