Marikina's young guns need a leader to orchestrate win
Head coach Elvis Tolentino emphasized the need for a leader of his young Marikina Shoemasters to finally book a win in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Lakan Cup.
After seven games, they are yet to file a victory as they got manhandled by the at the Ynares Sports Arena last Tuesday.
The tactician stressed out that aside from ex-pro Jondan Salvador, the rest of his squad are still in the grassroots and the bad calls are hardly affecting the game of his team.
"Which is for my team nahihirapan kaming maka-recover kasi mga bata. This team except for Jondan Salvador, this team is grassroots talaga, yung walang pinanggalingan compared naman sa mga kalaban namin.
Although according to him his players are constantly improving but this is not enough to give them a win.
"But it is not an excuse kapag natalo. Siguro kung makakuha kami ng somebody who can able to lead the team. Yun ang kulang namin eh, kaya nakikita mo bumibitaw eh. Kulang sa heart."
"Siguro nandun yung winning attitude eh. Winning attitude. Yun lang problema ko kasi yung mga player ko they didn't come to schools that are winners, meron man, kakaunti. I'm trying to build a winning attitude.
Coach Tolentino also opens up the possibility of his team joining other minor leagues to accelerate their overall progress.
