MPD marks 120th anniversary
Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso lauded the Manila Police District (MPD) for helping the city in its peace and security efforts, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.
Domagoso thanked the MPD as it celebrated its 120th founding anniversary on Wednesday.
With the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, Domagoso recognized the invaluable help rendered by members of the MPD in enforcing the minimum public health standards.
“While there is danger to the health of our citizen due to Covid-19, implementing simple rules, instilling discipline to the people especially this pandemic, napakalaking bagay ng pagpapatupad ng mga alituntuning ito (it is a big task to enforce them),” he said.
While it may be an added responsibility for the personnel and officials, Domagoso said police personnel did not disappoint him.
He said he could not do it alone and that he needs the help of the MPD most especially in enforcing protocols amid the pandemic.
He also cited the tolerance displayed by the MPD in enforcing the law, most especially in the apprehension of hardened and wanted criminals.
“Lahat halos ng mga hardened criminal, kasuklam-suklam ang ginawang krimen at tumakbo sa batas nakalawit ng MPD, most of them, buhay. Proud na proud ako sa inyo sa tiyaga at high tolerance ng MPD (Almost all the hardened criminals who committed horrible crimes and ran away from the law, were caught by the MPD alive. I am so proud of your perseverance and high tolerance),” Domagoso said.
Meanwhile, Domagoso warned criminals to avoid Manila as he assured them that the city government, with the help of the MPD, will run after them.
