PLM professor named Supreme Court associate justice
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Law Professor was appointed Supreme Court Associate Justice by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Justice Jhosep Y. Lopez was chosen by President Duterte as the new Associate Justice of the Supremem Court, confirmed by Malacañang earlier this day.
Justice Jhoseph has been serving the City of Manila even in his early days in his career. He is a former councilor and chief city prosecutor before he was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2012. He is also a faculty member of PLM College of Law where he helps in shaping the minds of the country's future lawyers.
PLM President Emmanuel Leyco congratulated Associate Justice Lopez on his new appointment, and also wishes for the associate justice to continue to uphold PLM's values.
“We proudly congratulate Associate Justice Jhosep Lopez for his appointment to the Supreme Court,” President Leyco said. “May he continue to uphold PLM’s values of karunungan, kaunlaran, at kadakilaan as he takes his seat at the en banc and delivers just decisions.”
On the other hand, PLM College of Law Dean George Erwin Garcia also said that the appointment of Associate Chief Justice Lopez is an affirmation to their students that they are being mentored by professors who exudes the highest excellence.
“This is an affirmation that our students are mentored by professors who exude the highest excellence in the legal profession, fueled by dedication to serve the republic and the people," Dean Garcia said.
The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila has consistently been named as among the best law schools in the country, beating the national passing rate in the yearly Bar examinations.
