Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso on Tuesday said he had no plans to file a case against his predecessor, Joseph Estrada, whose administration reportedly failed to turn over city documents to the new city government.

Domagoso said filing a case would only be “excess baggage,” explaining that he would rather focus on Manila’s numerous problems.

“With regards to non-performance of the obligation and the basis of that Department of the Interior and Local Government memorandum, you all know that I do not want excess baggage in life,” he said.

“With that particular memorandum, the violation in the transition, that’s nothing. They just want to make it difficult for me. That document is just there somewhere,” Domagoso added.

He pointed out that it was petty to go after Estrada over such a violation, and that he could always go to the Commission on Audit to get copies of the documents.

“The problem with our country is we have this habit of spending all the people’s money whenever there’s a change in leadership. That’s why in a few years, in the first few years, nothing gets done. I don’t like it,” Domagoso said.

He said he would file charges if the past administration’s violation concerned corruption or wasting the people’s money.
