Isko opens Tondo access road

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno led the opening of a new access road which would benefit thousands of students from two schools in Tondo.

Alvarado Extension in Tondo, Manila used to be closed to the public and was relegated to private use. The street lights and asphalting were done along Alvarado Extension road to make it passable to pedestrians and motorists.

The mayor said the road had been closed by a private company for the past several years, thus inconveniencing the public, especially students from the Philippine Cultural High School and Chiang Kai Shek, which cater mostly to Chinese-Filipino community members.

He said the students needed to walk via a longer route when going to and from their school, along with residents in the areas of P. Algue and Abad Santos Streets, among others.
