Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said he is studying a plan to estalblish a city-owned maritime school.

He shared the plan during a courtesy visit of the director of Panama Maritime Authority (PMA).

“You might be interested in putting up a maritime school in our UDM (Unibersidad de Manila)? We have plenty of training centers, but this UDM, it is a city-owned school,” Domagoso told Capt. Juan Maltez, General Director of PMA, as the latter paid him a courtesy visit.

“Because all of our seaman schools here are private,” he added.

Domagoso also said that the city government and the PMA can share “technologies and ideas.”

In an interview with reporters, Maltez said: “I told him that it needs to be communicated with the vice-admiral [who] is charged for Philippines maritime affair and they can talk between them, and later they can get information on the training center of Panama.”
