Divisoria, Carriedo ‘reappear’ after 2-day clearing operation

Two days after Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso ordered a 48-hour cleaning and clearing operation in Divisoria and Carriedo in Quiapo, the two areas are now clean and clear of obstructions.

The two public markets, usually filled to the brim with trash, vendors, and shoppers, now look like some of the best commercial areas in Metro Manila.

“How pleasing! Isko’s only been mayor for three days but managed to clean Divisoria and Carriedo,” a netizen wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday morning.

A few days after the May 13 midterm elections, Domagoso said he would “move heaven and earth” to clean up Manila.

Police personnel and fire volunteers helped in the clearing operations.

The first-term mayor also vowed to preserve Arroceros Forest Park, dubbed as “Manila’s last lung,” and Manila Zoo, and to revive Escolta, Manila Bay, and Intramuros.
