Authorities confiscated about 6.1 tons of contraband meat and wildlife worth about P15 million from a Chinese national and two others in Binondo, Manila on January 13.

The Manila Public Information Office identified the suspects as Cai Chang Fen, Rogelio Endrinal, and Joshua Almario.

The two Filipino suspects said they only served as driver and helper and that Fen was the owner of the contraband meat.

Fen claimed that he was only following orders from a fellow Chinese.

Members of the Manila Veterinary Inspection Board arrested the three suspects.

Hundreds of boxes of pork, beef, chicken, fish, turtles, sea lions, and lizards, among others, were confiscated from the suspects.

They will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10536 (Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines), Republic Act 10611 (Food Safety Act), and Republic Act 9147 (Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act).
