Twenty residents of Sampaloc, Manila tested positive for COVID-19 during the rapid testing done while the district was under a two-day hard lockdown.

Ospital ng Sampaloc director Dr. Aileen Lacsamana said these 20 residents are considered probable COVID-19 patients and will undergo confirmatory swab tests at the Delpan Quarantine Facility.

Those who tested negative but have shown symptoms of the disease may also undergo swab tests, the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) said.

Meanwhile, police reports showed that 157 individuals were nabbed for violating measures imposed during the lockdown.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso placed the entire Sampaloc district under a 48-hour hard lockdown from 8 p.m. on Thursday to 8 p.m. on Saturday over the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the area.

As of Saturday, Sampaloc remains the district with the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 124 cases.

In Manila, there are now 608 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 58 deaths and 88 recovered patients.
