Manila hailed as startup friendly city
Manila is one of the most startup friendly cities in the world, according to Startup Genome’s 2019 Global Startup Ecosystem Report.
The report listed Manila, along with Busan, Frankfurt, Calgary, and Taipei, as one of the top activation phase ecosystems in the world.
Manila ranked 10th in the global report for Bang for Buck category, and fifth in the activation ecosystem for connectedness and in exit growth index.
The Bang for Buck citation is given to companies that are getting more value for the average funding amount startups get in the ecosystems.
Exit growth index, on the other hand, measures startup exits in the ecosystem from 2015 to 2016 and 2017 to 2018.
The city placed sixth in the world in output growth index and ninth in funding growth index.
Output growth index measures the total startup creation in the ecosystem through a yearly growth rate between 2014 and 2018, while funding growth index evaluates the index of growth in early stage funding in startups from 2014 to 2015 and 2016 to 2017.
