The National Museum of Anthropology (NMA) will be temporarily closed to the public starting Monday, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.

In its advisory, the National Museum of the Philippines said the move is part of the major installation activities in preparation for the homecoming exhibition of “Magellan, Marilyn, Mickey, and Padre Damaso: 500 Years of Conquistador Rock Stars" by National Artist Kidlat Tahimik at the building of the National Museum of Anthropology in Rizal Park, Manila.

The exhibit was commissioned and shown in Spain at the historic Palacio de Cristal in Madrid by the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía “by the acclaimed filmmaker and visual artist and succeeded in attracting almost 500,000 visitors between October 2021 and March 2022.”

“We are excited to reopen the NMA soon with the launch of this major and highly-awaited exhibition,” the national museum said in its social media post.

The museum has been showcasing Filipino craftsmanship with several installations depicting the cultural struggles and aspirations of the Filipino people over the last 500 years and features larger-than-life sculptures.

Meanwhile, the National Museum of Fine Arts and the National Museum of Natural History will remain open for everyone to visit.

Walk-in visitors are allowed and admission within the vicinities is free of charge.
