Chinese national injured in Manila gun attack

A 43-year-old Chinese businessman was injured after an unidentified gunman onboard a motorcycle shot him in his car along along Padre Burgos Avenue in Ermita, Manila on Feb. 23.

Police identified the victim as Wenyan Shao, 43, businessman, a resident of Binondo, Manila. He was rushed to Manila Doctors Hospital for treatment.

A witness told the police that Shao, who was onboard a black Toyota Camry, was arguing with an unidentified man riding a black and orange Honda Click motorcycle from Katigbak Road in Manila at about 1:15 a.m.

The two vehicles stopped at a red light along Finance Road corner Padre Burgos Avenue in front of the National Museum. The gunman then drew a handgun of an unidentified caliber and shot the victim in his car.

Shao’s car continued running until it crashed into the center island in front of the Andres Bonifacio Monument while the gunman fled towards Quezon Boulevard in Quiapo, Manila.

Investigation showed that the victim sustained a lone gunshot wound on his right cheek.
