Manila City Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan donated about 1,010 tablets worth P8.8 million to Universidad de Manila (UdM) students who are among the “poorest of the poor.”

Domagoso said that the funds used for the purchase of Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablets were sourced from his modeling and talent fees from various private companies.

The Mayor and the Vice Mayor turned over the devices to UdM President Malou Tiquia on Thursday, September 24, in order to assist students from poverty-stricken families to cope with the prevailing blended distance learning mode amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Mayor was able to accumulate funds to purchase the tablet devices from modeling contracts from the following firms:

  • Chooks to Go
  • Powerhouse Tools
  • IAMWORLDWIDE Coffee
  • Fruitas
  • Cosmic Technologies Inc.
  • Better Option Pharmaceutical

The UdM management led by University President Tiquia will handle the distribution to make sure that the students from the “poorest of the poor” will be given tablet devices.
